Danny started his first Steamboat business in 2009 as an outdoor outfitting company. It became a paddleboard company that has been fortunate to run a concession at Pearl Lake. Paddleboard Adventure Company has been operating and growing, looking to offer a great experience for our guests. We just want people to feel welcomed, have a great experience, and make a life-long memory.
The sauna idea came from a personal experience. Danny sat in a wood-burning sauna on the shores of Puget Sound, looked out at the water, and thought, we should have this option in Steamboat, whether it be at Pearl Lake or elsewhere. Not a complicated origin story. Just someone who knows this valley, saw something worth building, and built it.
Soulful Sauna runs the same way everything else Danny does: locals taking care of people, in a place they genuinely love.

The löyly philosophy
What makes a wood-fired sauna different.
Löyly (pronounced lö·y·ly) is a Finnish word for the steam that rises when water hits hot stones in a wood-fired sauna. There's no clean English translation because it describes something you feel more than explain, the heat, the rhythm of it, the way the air changes when the steam fills the room.
Finnish sauna culture has been around for thousands of years. It was never about performance or optimization. It was just people, heat, and somewhere quiet to get right with themselves.
That's what Soulful Sauna is built around. Not a trend. Not a wellness program. Just a good sauna, in a beautiful place, run by people who live here.

Just as with Paddleboard Adventure Company and The Sneak Line, we strive for a high standard and want all our guests to have an experience they'll remember.
Paddleboard Adventure Company offers rentals in Steamboat and Pearl Lake, as well as paddleboard lessons.
The Sneak Line is an apres bar at Pearl Lake that offers a low-key place to relax after your adventures on the lake. Sit in one of our Adirondack chairs, wiggle your toes in the turf, and have a cold one or two.
